Who I Am
My name is Tassandra Barnaby, poet, author, CEO of The-Written-Soul, and above all, a storyteller led by the heart. I write to give shape to emotion and offer comfort through connection, honoring the quiet power of language. It was from this devotion that The-Written-Soul was born, having founded a social media platform based on the healing power of words.
Before I finally gave in to writing as my whole truth, I worked in finance, serving some of the country's most prestigious hospitals. While fulfilling, there was a call deeper than the surface. I had always been a writer; it was my refuge, nurtured quietly for years until I finally dared to bring it into the light.
In 2024, I self-published my first poetry collection, "Feathers of the Unseen," through IngramSpark, and I continue to share my passion through journals available on Amazon. For me, poetry is more than art. It is therapy-a sacred space where vulnerability and truth meet. My words often dwell in quiet, reflective places, where emotion is tender, and language becomes a kind of light.
I am inspired by two ageless voices: Maya Angelou and Emily Dickinson. Maya taught me to stand boldly in my truth, while Emily reminded me that even whispered words can resound for generations. One is fire; the other is feather; I walk their line with gratitude.
Like yellow, my favorite color, I write to shine, even if only ever so gently, into the hearts of others.

"We are dreamers, wanderers, and seekers at heart. What are my goals for The-Written-Soul? Let me share them with you."
I Am Not Just a Girl
I am not just a girl lost in the crowd,
But a woman of color fierce, unbowed.
My dreams blaze like wildfire, fearless and proud,
A flame of ambition is not yet allowed.
The sky may loom high, but I will not bend;
Each step I take carries paths without end.
From shadows and whispers, I rise, transcend
A spirit unbroken, too bold to pretend.
